I've been there several times myself - new country, culture and you don't know anyone there, maybe not a lot of time and you want to make a safe yet proper contact with the local scene. In Tampere every month we have this "low treshold - sky's the limit" style event called KPP organized by Rsyke and hosted by me. Built around ropes, impact play and primal wrestling action but totally suitable just for chatting and mingling. Everyone with manners is welcome, plenty of English speaking people and generally accepting, warm and energetic atmosphere. AND there's a snack table.
